About Raphael Nir

Dr. Nir is a member of InnoTech’s Medical and Scientific Advisory Board and an angel investor in the company. A scientist, entrepreneur, and investor with 30 years of experience in biotechnology, he brings a unique blend of scientific rigor and entrepreneurial vision that strengthens InnoTech’s strategy for developing and commercializing advanced diagnostic solutions.

Dr. Nir’s expertise spans preclinical research, drug discovery, cell-based assays, process development, and recombinant cytokine production—areas directly relevant to InnoTech’s work in molecular diagnostics and biomarker discovery. His practical knowledge of building and scaling biotechnology companies provides InnoTech with critical guidance on product development, partnership building, and navigating translational and commercial pathways.

He is the founder and owner of SBH Sciences, a leading supplier of recombinant cytokines and discovery research services that has supported more than 350 biotechnology companies since 1997. He also founded SBH Diagnostics, a CLIA-certified lab that partners with diagnostics companies to accelerate clinical testing. Beyond his own companies, Dr. Nir co-founded Karyopharm Therapeutics (NASDAQ: KPTI), Galectin Sciences, and Alma Bio Therapeutics, and is a co-founder and partner at Woodland Biosciences and ABI-LAB, all of which reflect his deep commitment to nurturing innovation across the life sciences ecosystem.

At InnoTech, Dr. Nir contributes his scientific insight, entrepreneurial experience, and investor perspective to guide the company’s product development and growth strategy. His involvement ensures that Recognize™ and future platforms are built not only on strong science but also on sound business models and market-oriented execution.

Dr. Nir earned his Ph.D. in Biotechnology, his M.S. in Biochemistry, and his B.S. in Chemistry from Tel Aviv University, as well as an M.S. in Engineering Management from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He completed postdoctoral training at Schering Plough Research Institute, where he later advanced to Senior Scientist/Associate Principal Scientist, developing innovative cell culture processes for biological production.
