About Ali Shazib

Dr. Ali Shazib is a member of InnoTech’s Medical and Scientific Advisory Board and serves as Chief Clinical Officer, where he leads clinical strategy and provides guidance on the development of InnoTech’s Recognize™ diagnostic platform. With extensive expertise in oral medicine, oncology, and orofacial pain, Dr. Shazib ensures that the platform is designed for clinical relevance and optimized for real-world cancer detection and patient care. His contributions are critical to InnoTech’s mission of delivering high-performance, accessible point-of-care diagnostics for early disease detection.

Dr. Shazib is Associate Professor of Oral Medicine, Oncology, and Orofacial Pain and Dean of the Workman School of Dental Medicine. He previously served as the founding Chief Clinical Officer for High Point University Health–Oral Health Network, developing its academic oral health system. He has also held leadership roles as managing director of a top 3 Dental Service Organization (DSO), founding director of hospital oral medicine services at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and as a practicing owner of a large multi-specialty dental clinic.

Clinically, Dr. Shazib focuses on dentistry for medically complex patients, oral oncology, oral-systemic conditions, and orofacial pain disorders, including TMD, headaches, migraines, and neuropathies. He is the Founding Director of Oral Medicine Oncology Services at Novant Health Cancer Institute and Atrium Health–Wake Forest Baptist/High Point Medical Center, where he continues to practice.

In research, he investigates cancer-treatment–related oral adverse events, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and precision medicine approaches. He has published clinical guidelines on managing immunotherapy-related oral complications and contributes regularly to journals such as Oral Oncology, Oral Diseases, OOOO, JAMA Otolaryngology, and Supportive Care in Cancer. Dr. Shazib has authored book chapters, lectured internationally, and serves as a peer reviewer for multiple journals. He is actively involved in the accreditation of dental programs through CODA, serving as a site visitor for hospital programs for the Commission of Dental Accreditation, Department of Education.

At InnoTech, Dr. Shazib’s combined expertise in clinical practice, research, and oral oncology ensures that Recognize™ is both scientifically robust and clinically impactful, improving early detection and outcomes for patients worldwide.

Dr. Shazib earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Gold Medalist) in Pakistan and a DMD (Honors) from Boston University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Oral Medicine residency at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, serving as Chief Resident at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and received the prestigious Joseph Henry Award for excellence in patient care and research.
